Episode 8: The Queen’s Gambit, aka chess & drugs & Anya Taylor Joy (with Maz Fornasier)

TRANSCRIPT HERE

We welcome the enigmatic Maz Fornasier back for our EIGHTH episode covering 2020’s Netflix phenomenon, The Queens Gambit, based on the 1983 novel by Walter Tevis (Steph AND Maz call him William, apologies!) Can an adaptation be both harmful and helpful all at once? Find out, as Maz also gets deep into her own lived experience with addiction.

Content Warning: Drug and alcohol use, misuse, addiction, withdrawal and recovery, childhood trauma, abuse and neglect, some mention of suicide
